After a courageous battle with lung cancer, we recently lost my Mom. Upon reflection, I’ve realized that so much of my professional success is directly accredited to her. In honor of her, my next few business posts will be dedicated to what she taught me and how I’ve applied them to my life and business.
The overwhelming grief that accompanies such news can be all-encompassing. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, I find moments to reflect and truly appreciate the invaluable lessons my mother has imparted to shape the leader I've become.
The foundation of my leadership style and the professional choices I make can be traced back to my formative years, largely influenced by my Mom’s guidance. While I am primarily delving into the principles of leadership, my words serve equally as a heartfelt tribute to her.
As you read, I invite you to not only explore leadership concepts but to also pause and recognize echoes of your own leadership style in your childhood memories. These posts, beyond being a guide on leadership, is a celebration and a nod to those who shaped us. Our knowledge and expertise is simply the unique combination of life experiences and people who poured into us. To think otherwise is simply arrogant.
During my childhood, Mom had several mantras. Phrases that she drilled into my head over and over again until it just sounded like white noise. What I didn’t realize is that her words were seeping into the fabric of my life and would serve to be the foundation of my adulthood.
In the coming weeks, I’ll share details of her mantras and how you can also apply them to your life and business. This is a way for me to keep her memory alive and share the amazing woman that raised me.
